A prosthetic dental appliance, the dental bridge will bridge the gap that is between healthy teeth as the result of lost teeth. A dental bridge will effectively restore the aesthetics and functionality lost when the natural tooth or teeth were lost. The teeth that provide support for the bridge will need to be strong and healthy, in order to tolerate the additional stress that they will be under while supporting the bridge. A dental crown is often used as a way of reinforcing the support teeth so that they can better tolerate the additional pressure that they will experience.
If there are no natural and healthy teeth to provide support for the dental bridge, our dentist may recommend opting for dental implants. The dental implant is a surgically implanted titanium post. Set into the bone of the jaw, the implant becomes a permanent tooth replacement for the prosthetic.
Once it is ready for placement, you will return to the office. The dental bridge will be set in place, and any needed adjustments will be made. The dental bridge will then be permanently bonded to the prepared teeth or crowns. We can also do a tooth whitening treatment on existing natural teeth to enhance aesthetics.
