Setting The Fixed Bridge

Getting your fixed bridge will typically require multiple visits to our dental office. The first appointment will involve preparing the supportive teeth, which could mean preparing them for dental crowns. Impressions will be taken of the gap being bridged and the supportive teeth. This data will be sent to the laboratory that will be making the dental bridge.

A temporary bridge may be placed to protect the prepared teeth while waiting for the permanent bridge to be ready.

Once it is ready for placement, you will return to the office. The dental bridge will be set in place, and any needed adjustments will be made. The dental bridge will then be permanently bonded to the prepared teeth or crowns. We can also do a tooth whitening treatment on existing natural teeth to enhance aesthetics.

Learning To Care For Dental Bridges

For the most part, dental bridges are low maintenance. They do require a little bit of extra care. Be sure to always brush and floss after every meal. Brush the bridge itself, taking care to brush around and under it. Use an alcohol-free mouthwash so that any leftover debris can be rinsed free. This good oral hygiene routine will help to keep the natural teeth in good health, as they can still be at risk for decay.
